The German experience in dealing with the health hazard of respirable dust in underground mines is reported from first-hand observation in this Bureau of Mines paper. The report covers--(1) the control of dust by water infusion, water spraying, and ventilation. (2) The sampling devices (tyndalloscope, konimeter, and bat-i) and methods used to determine the dust concentrations in mines.
