Fred Connell's 35 lb. Power Hammer Ray Clontz Disk Clutch Type DIY Hammer This hammer is based on the original DIY hammer built by Ray Clontz, before he came up with the Tire Hammer. It uses a clutch mechanism built from two disk brake rotors with friction material in between. Ray used a clutch disk, Fred used a sheet of friction material.

Aug 03, 2006· Plans are still not out for Clay's tire hammer. Can't seen to get timmed to go to a work shop due to working offshore eigther. Also Clay's hammer is a 50 pounder, this one is an 80 pounder. Don't have a big enough compressor to run an air hammer and like the old style mechanicle hammer better if it's ajusted rite.

They really aren't plans as such, just a few hand-drawn sketches that don't tell you anything you couldn't figure out on your own. Do a search on "tire hammer" for the best homemade mechanical design out there.

Homemade hammers can be dangerous no doubt..Precautions should be taken for sure..On that design about the only thing that can break and come loose is the spring.
