Feb 25, 2011· I'm trying to do a network equipment rack in Visio but having trouble changing U sizes of equipment. For example I need to draw a 2U Rack mounted NAS, so I figure the "RAID Array" is a good shape to use for this. Drag the shape onto my 42U Rack, only to find I can't reduce it's size bellow 3U. I alter the shape properties to 2U and it dosn't stick!

It would be worthwhile to label your rack in the same manner. My Visio rack diagram contains a sample 34U rack with objects from the custom stencil, as well as some Visio default items. Many items from Visio's PC & Peripherals, Network Devices, and General Manufacturer Equipment stencils also have the correct size ratio to be placed into the rack.
