Going to use as manual mill for now, possibility of cncing in the future. Ive got a lead on an older Enco mill/drill 1981 model 9-1002, 2hp round column with vise stand and collet set for $850.

One set up for drilling steel, the other is set up for drilling wood and other soft materials. I also strongly recommend against getting a round column mill.

I'd like to use it eventually to make metal versions of wooden moulding planes. I've got a plan in my head for a version with replacable bottoms for different shapes of moulding.
Apr 23, 2005· Got something similar- mine is a Warco Mill/Drill. Had it 10 years- built like a brick s***house! Mine is single phase 250V but works OK. Modded mine with a slow feed. Got a 4" swivel vise, a Vertex dividing head and tail stock, rotary table and a fistful of other tooling. Like every other mill, it's the tooling that proves or disproves it.

Jan 12, 2017· Well, not so much, really. My 30 year old Enco never had provisions for one. The R- 8 collet needed tightened securely or a cutter would move. Grabbing the belts meant taking the cover off and getting dirty off the belts—ugh! Strap wrenches on the small spindle nose helped a lot but were frustrating to use.
