This paper evaluates the performance of coal fired thermal power plants of small installed capacity power plants (<;500 MW) in India for the year 2008-09 by application of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). DEA model is solved to calculate overall efficiency and input slacks. Further Cross efficiency is employed to draw out best practice power plants and their ranking is done on this basis.
