24-11-2008· I'm thinking about bidding on a large mulching job (>700 acres) on the side of a mountain. If successful I would need to buy mulching equipment as I already have the hand-thinning crews. I've read many previous threads on Fecon, ASV, equipment but there are so many different views it's hard to interpret which equipment would be the best.

19-10-2006· He says FAE is much better and want to demonstrate how. Spending this much money, I want to know when I get in the woods that I've got the best head available. If there is much difference, one may end up saving me time at job sites. That means less charges for the clients. Happier client, better advertising through word of mouth.
23-09-2006· janb pretty much hit the nail, on the head. You are just gonna have to demo them all if possible. I personaly am leaning more towards Loftness. Its just my personal preference as Fecon has been in this game a long time so you know they are doing something right. I plan to demo both the Timber Ax and Carbide Cutter from Loftness.

According to the ASV district sales rep who says they have worked with all the mulcher head manufacturers, he said Fecon, FAE, or Magnum are all good heads and you can't go wrong with any of them.
