The training programs offered at Bevill State can be taught on the school campus, carried to the mine site on a satellite basis, or conducted upon request at the mine site. The training program also provides rescue and recovery services for Alabama's smaller mines by providing two fully equipped and well trained mine rescue teams.
Each training day lasts for 12 hours – just like a usual shift on site. During this time trainees learn the basic skills required to become an Offsider, which includes: Setting up a drill site. Correct rod handling techniques and use of hand tools. Tube emptying techniques. Conducting basic servicing and pre starts.

The Energy Training Program helps postsecondary students and recent graduates get work experience in the energy sector with a hiring incentive for local businesses.
